In our latest predictions for the post-season, we concluded that the national championship game will feature Florida vs. Alabama. This of course, flies in the face of the fact that both teams – if both remain undefeated – will be meeting in the SEC championship game in early December and hence, one team will lose.
However, we stick by our prediction.
By the time both teams meet in December, many of the other conferences will have concluded their seasons two weeks earlier, such as the Pac-10 and Big Ten, which will place those conferences on the back-burner. And, in the end, we don’t see the voters placing an undefeated Boise State, TCU or Cincinnati ahead of a one-loss Florida or Alabama in the BCS title game.
The sticking point in our prediction, however, remains Texas and to a degree, Iowa. If the Longhorns remain undefeated, they will certainly head to Pasadena ahead of a one-loss Florida or Alabama team. And, if Iowa remains undefeated, they too would have a chance to head to the national championship game.
However, at this point, we are not predicting this scenario.
