It’s hard to believe that the conference season has just three weeks to go and equally interesting that Penn State’s ability to win or lose the conference title could have been ordained after its end-of-September loss to Iowa. Still, facts are facts.
#16 Ohio State @ #10 Penn State
The loser of this game ruins its chances of any possibility of winning at least a share of the conference title for a second season in a row, unless Iowa losses two of its final three conference games, which looks extremely unlikely. Even with a win, the Nittany Lions need to hope that Iowa loses at least once so that they can finish up 7-1 and share the title. Under this scenario, Penn State would likely collect an at-large BCS bid to either the Fiesta or Orange Bowl.
For Penn State
At 7-1, Penn State would finish no worst than 2nd in the conference and tie for first with an Iowa loss.
For Ohio state
If OSU escapes Happy Valley with a victory and defeats Iowa next week and Michigan the following, Jim Tressel’s team will win at least a share of its fifth straight Big Ten conference title.
Northwestern @ #4 Iowa
All Iowa needs to do is win its final three games and it heads to Pasadena. Therefore, as has been the case since the beginning of October, Penn State fans need to root first for Northwestern and then for the home team on Saturday.
